At the heart of the biotechnology odyssey are its exceptional individuals. BioSynergy is no different. We provide an intimate environment where students passionate about biotechnology can rise to collaborate in a meaningful way. Here are the architects of BioSynergy.

 

Chief Executive Officer - Adrian Yutian Xu

Mr. Xu is a 4th year Physiology Specialist, with a plethora of previous experiences in leadership and management. These include being the Chief Communications Officer for Delta Biotech Society in the past 2 years, acting as the Regional Director for the North American Model United Nations Conference, and managing funds as the Chief Financial Officer of the Magna est Veritas Society. A skilled violinist, Adrian played as First Violin in the Hart House Chamber Strings. Mr. Xu is shaping BioSynergy's vision of the fusion between entrepreneurship and science, as well as expanding its circulation across North American campuses.

Editor in Chief - Christopher Yau

Mr. Yau is a 3rd year Immunology Specialist, with a major in Biochemistry. A breadth in experience and education has always been his greatest strength; his undergraduate education included a stint in Engineering Science as well as Human Biology; while his research has taken him from nuclear reactor safety systems to plant pathogens to HIV. Christopher won a Silver medal representing Canada at the 2006 International Biology Olympiad, and was a member of the top team for the 2006 National Biology Competition. As Editor in Chief of BioSynergy International, Christopher hopes to bring his tremendous energy and driving curiosity to the table, while furthering BioSynergy's goal of promoting awareness and appreciation of biotechnology as the intersection of science and industry.

Chief Operating Officer - Boken Lin

Mr. Lin is managing great responsibility as he tries to open up BioSynergy's web and forum structures as a portal to the world. A student of exceptional academic records, Boken won a Bronze medal for Canada at the 2007 International Biology Olympiad, as well as coming in First Place in the 2007 National Biology Competition. In addition, Boken is also an outstanding violinist and a competitive swimmer.

Roger Li - Executive Editor

Roger Li is currently a second year student studying life sciences at the University of Toronto. He is currently serving as the executive editor at Biosynergy and also coordinates web publishing. HIs interests includes IT, Neurology, and Immunology.

Marketing Officer - Michael Reslinski

Michael is currently a third year student in the Genes, Genetics and Biotechnology Specialist Program (Minor in Philosophy) at the University of Toronto. He has had extensive experience in the Biotech industry, working at Genome Canada as an intern and analyst. He is especially interested in Marketing, Genomics, Personalized Medicine, IP Law, and Biotech Equity Analysis.

Marketing Officer - Justin Zhu

Justin is a fourth year Lab Medicine and Pathobiology Specialist student at the University of Toronto. He has been doing research on Vitamin D. With previous experience in promotions in SPPG, he is currently a marketing officer of Biosynergy.

Graphics Designer - Lorraine Trecroce

Lorraine earned a B.A. in Anthropological Linguistics from the University of Western Ontario, and a certificate of Art Fundamentals from Sheridan Institute of Design and Technology.  She is currently pursuing a Masters degree in Biomedical Communications at the University of Toronto and hopes to develop visual teaching tools for medical students and professionals alike.

Lindsay Wong - Creative Director

Lindsay brings with her leadership experience from organizing music events to co-ordinate the creative team of BioSynergy. She is also interested in exploring the nature of the relationship between the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries. Of particular interest are the implications of their involvement in the advancement of personalized medicine and the ethical issues that accompany this progress.
Sarah Chau - Senior Editor

Sarah is a third year undergraduate, specializing in Neuroscience with an interest in clinical research, specifically targeting the causes and treatments of psychological disorders.  Outside the classroom, Sarah enjoys an active lifestyle which includes volunteering at Mount Sinai Hospital, participating in the U of T Vietnamese Students? Association as Vice President of Internal Affairs, working as a swim instructor and partaking in various sports programs on campus.  This being her 2nd term as an editor, Sarah hopes to continue to increase BioSynergy?s reputation as the herald of the biotech message.
